Over the past five years, we've grown and matured as people. Now, it's time for our brand and mission to evolve with us,

Cartel began with the ocean’s whisper on Bali’s shores in 2017. Our founder, Kat, was moved by the sea’s beauty and the harsh reality of plastic pollution. Beach cleanups and inspiring connections sparked her purpose, leading to the birth of Copenhagen Cartel in 2020.
What started as Kat’s solo mission quickly grew. By 2021, with no fashion experience, we expanded the team, brought on wholesale customers, and opened our flagship store at Nikolaj Plads—right in the middle of a pandemic. Risky? Yes. Regrets? Not a single one.
Our store became more than just a retail space; it turned into a sisterhood hub, hosting everything from ocean runs to panel debates. But the real magic happened in the fitting rooms, where incredible women shared their stories and celebrated their journeys. You—our community—are the heartbeat of Cartel Copenhagen. Badass, intelligent, and powerful, you remind us daily why we do what we do.
We've sailed through victories and weathered failures, creating countless firsts and unforgettable memories. We've laughed, cried, and celebrated together. We've faced challenges, met resistance, but always stood strong. Thank you to each and every one of you for your unwavering support.
In November 2023, our small, purpose-driven startup achieved a major milestone by joining forces with retail giant Magasin Du Nord. The acquisition marked a new chapter in our journey.
Now, five years after our first bikini was produced, our purpose driven startup has matured. We as people behind the “startup” matured and it's only right that our brand and mission mature with us, and with you, our community.
To embrace our evolution we´ve updated our name and Identity to reflect the fact that while we´re still based in Copenhagen, our community, ambitions and values are global.
Besides our new looks, we've embraced our Nordic roots. Our hearts might belong to summer, but we're excited to expand our product lineup, offering year-round selection with the same timeless designs, superior materials, and rock-solid commitment to responsibility and functionality.
Our mission? It's always been about supporting, strong, women—from our passionate founder to our superior products to our badass community and partnerships. Women aren't just about numbers and measurements; they're unstoppable forces of nature. With the support of fellow likeminded and our empowering community, turning life's curveballs into epic wins is our way of life. Individually, we're drops of water; together, we're a freakin' tsunami of change.
