Cartel Copenhagen is a Scandinavian swimwear and athleisure brand designed with women in mind.
Founded in 2019 by Kathrine Lee Larsen, a Danish woman living in Bali at the time, seeking to create a purpose-driven brand that makes swimwear that stays in place while on a surfboard and makes every woman, no matter her body type, feel amazing.
Long story short: Cartel swimwear became so well received that celebrities and members of the royal family were spotted wearing it — a big wow moment for a startup.
As Cartel gained recognition for its swimwear, we expanded into athleisure, staying true to our body-aware, supportive, and shaping designs that were tested and approved by professional athletes. Today, Cartel Copenhagen creates purposeful, long-lasting styles that rise above trends — made for a reason, not just a season.
Cartel prioritizes the use of recycled materials in both swimwear and athleisure.
We're rooted in women's empowerment and the understanding that an active lifestyle means something different for every woman. As proud members of "1% for the Planet," Cartel donates 1% of its annual revenue to certified organizations working to support women's education and advance women's rights around the world.
